Key Highlights
This IELTS General Writing Test consists of 2 tasks. Task 1 is a Formal letter that you need to write in at least 150 words. Task 2 includes an Advantage/Disadvantage Essay topic, which you need to write in 250 words. You need 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
IELTS Writing Task 1
A local council has announced plans to remove a public park in your area and replace it with a shopping complex. Write a letter to the council.
In your letter:
- Explain why you are writing.
- Describe the importance of the park to local residents.
- Suggest an alternative solution.
Write at least 150 words.
IELTS Writing Task 2
Some people believe that people should take a year off to travel or work before starting university. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
Write at least 250 words.
