Key Highlights
This IELTS General Writing Test consists of 2 tasks. Task 1 is a Formal letter that you need to write in at least 150 words. Task 2 includes a Discussion Essay topic, which you need to write in 250 words. You need 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
IELTS Writing Task 1
You recently attended a public library in your town and noticed that several facilities were outdated and in need of improvement.
Write a letter to the manager of the library.
In your letter:
- Explain why you are writing.
- Describe the problems you noticed.
- Suggest what improvements should be made.
IELTS Writing Task 2
In many countries, people spend a large amount of money on celebrating special occasions such as weddings, birthdays and festivals. Some people believe this is a waste of money, while others think it is an important part of culture and family life. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Write at least 250 words.
