Key Highlights
This IELTS General Writing Test consists of 2 tasks. Task 1 is an Informal letter that you need to write in at least 150 words. Task 2 includes a Direct Question Essay topic, which you need to write in 250 words. You need 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
IELTS Writing Task 1
Your childhood friend has recently decided to leave his/her job and travel around the country for six months. Write a letter to your friend.
In your letter:
- Express your thoughts about the decision.
- Give some advice for the trip.
- Suggest a place that he/she should definitely visit and explain why.
IELTS Writing Task 2
In the past, people often repaired broken items such as clothes, furniture and household appliances. Nowadays, many people prefer to replace them with new ones instead. Why do you think this change has occurred? Is this a positive or negative development?
Write at least 250 words.
