Key Highlights
This IELTS General Writing Test consists of 2 tasks. Task 1 is an Informal letter that you need to write in at least 150 words. Task 2 includes a Positive/Negative Essay topic, which you need to write in 250 words. You need 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
IELTS Writing Task 1
You recently moved to a new city for work. A close friend of yours is planning to visit you next month. Write a letter to your friend.
In your letter:
- Tell your friend about your new city and accommodation.
- Suggest some places you can visit together.
- Explain why you are looking forward to the visit.
IELTS Writing Task 2
In many countries, young people are spending less time reading books and more time using social media and other forms of digital entertainment. What are the reasons for this trend? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
Write at least 250 words.
