Key Highlights
This IELTS General Writing Test consists of 2 tasks. Task 1 is a Formal Letter, which you need to write in at least 150 words. Task 2 includes a Problem/Solution Essay topic, which you need to write in 250 words. You need 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
IELTS Writing Task 1
Your local library has introduced a new digital membership system, but you are facing difficulties using it. Write a letter to the Library Manager.
In your letter:
- Explain who you are and how long you have been a member
- Describe the issues you are experiencing with the new system
- Ask what can be done to resolve the problem
Write at least 150 words in about 20 minutes.

Many cities around the world are facing serious traffic congestion.
What are the main problems caused by traffic congestion, and what solutions can be implemented to reduce it?
