A memorable time when a travel app helped me was during a family trip to Jaipur last winter.

There was heavy traffic everywhere, and none of us knew the city well. We were worried that we would waste several hours and miss our chance to visit the place before it closed.
Fortunately, I opened a travel app on my phone. Instead of simply showing the shortest route, it suggested an alternative road that avoided the traffic and even recommended a nearby metro station. The app also estimated the travel time and informed us about a less crowded entrance to the monument.
