Key Highlights
This IELTS General Writing Test consists of 2 tasks. Task 1 is an Informal letter that you need to write in at least 150 words. Task 2 includes a Direct Question Essay topic, which you need to write in 250 words. You need 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
IELTS Writing Task 1
Your friend has signed up for a programme where participants must spend 30 days living as if it were the year 1980. During this time, they cannot use smartphones, social media, streaming services, or any modern digital technology. Write a letter to your friend.
In your letter:

Many people prefer to watch old movies, listen to old music, and read classic books rather than consume modern entertainment. Why do you think this is the case? Is this a positive or negative trend?
