Key Highlights
This IELTS General Writing Test consists of 2 tasks. Task 1 is a Formal letter that you need to write in at least 150 words. Task 2 includes a Positive/Negative Essay topic, which you need to write in 250 words. You need 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
IELTS Writing Task 1
You have been experiencing problems because of construction work taking place on the street where you live. The noise from the work is causing significant disturbance. Write a letter to your local council.
In your letter:
- Introduce yourself
- Explain the problem and how it is affecting you
- Suggest some possible solutions
IELTS Writing Task 2
In some parts of the world, it is becoming popular to research the history of one’s own family. Why might people want to do this? Is it a positive or negative development?
Write at least 250 words.
