Key Highlights
This IELTS General Writing Test consists of 2 tasks. Task 1 is an Informal Letter, which you need to write in at least 150 words. Task 2 includes a Discussion Essay topic, which you need to write in 250 words. You need 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
IELTS Writing Task 1
You arranged to visit a friend in England, but an important event at home happened, which means that you must change the date of the visit. Write a letter to your friend.
In your letter:
- Explain the important event
- Apologies for the situation
- Suggest a new arrangement
IELTS Writing Task 2
Some people think that the media (newspapers) have the right to publish details of people’s private lives, while others think it should be controlled. Discuss both views.
Write at least 250 words.
