Key Highlights
This IELTS General Writing Test consists of 2 tasks. Task 1 is an Informal Letter, which you need to write in at least 150 words. Task 2 includes an Agree/Disagree Essay topic, which you need to write in 250 words. You need 20 minutes for Task 1 and 40 minutes for Task 2.
IELTS Writing Task 1
Write a letter to your friend expressing your inability to meet on a particular date. Your friend was supposed to visit you soon, but due to some personal problems, you cannot meet him/her on the specified date. Write a letter to him or her explaining the situation.
In your letter, you have to:
- Apologies to your friend.
- Explain why it?s not possible to meet now.
- Suggest an alternative date for the meeting.
IELTS Writing Task 2
Government investment in the arts, such as music and theatre, is a waste of money. Governments must invest this money in public services instead. To what extent do you agree with this statement?
Write in 250 words.
