IELTS Speaking Part 1
Unhealthy Food
Q1. Do you often eat unhealthy food?
A. I eat unhealthy food only occasionally, usually when I am extremely busy or when I want to treat myself after a tiring day. For example, I might order pizza or buy fried snacks on weekends. However, I try to maintain a balanced diet most of the time because eating junk food regularly can lead to health problems such as weight gain and low energy levels.
Q2. What kind of unhealthy food is popular in your country?
A. In my country, a wide range of unhealthy food is popular, including burgers, fried chicken, instant noodles, sugary drinks, and packaged snacks like chips and chocolates. Street food such as deep-fried items and spicy fast food is also highly popular, especially among young people. These foods are attractive because they are affordable, tasty, and easily available.
Q3. Why do people enjoy eating unhealthy food?
A. People often enjoy unhealthy food because it is rich in flavour and usually contains high amounts of sugar, salt, or oil, which makes it more appealing. Another reason is convenience, as fast food can be prepared quickly and saves time. Moreover, many people choose it for social reasons, such as eating out with friends or celebrating special occasions.
Q4. Did you eat more unhealthy food when you were younger?
A. Yes, I definitely ate more unhealthy food when I was younger because I was less aware of nutrition and health. I used to buy snacks, soft drinks, and fast food quite often, especially after school or while spending time with friends. At that age, taste was my main priority, whereas now I pay more attention to ingredients and overall health.
Q5. Do you think children should be allowed to eat junk food?
A. I believe children should be allowed to eat junk food in moderation rather than being completely restricted. If parents ban it entirely, children may become more attracted to it. Instead, it would be better to let them have it occasionally while encouraging healthier meals at home. This approach can help children develop self-control and balanced eating habits.

Sample Answer
One occasion when I ate too much unhealthy food was during a friend’s birthday celebration last year. It happened at a popular fast-food restaurant in my city, where a group of close friends had gathered in the evening to celebrate. Since it was a special occasion, everyone was in a cheerful mood, and we decided to order a large variety of food to share.
We ordered several pizzas with extra cheese, fried chicken, burgers with fries, and large soft drinks. At first, I only planned to eat a moderate amount, but because the food was fresh, hot, and extremely tasty, I kept eating more than I normally would. In addition, everyone around me was enjoying themselves, so I did not pay much attention to how much I had consumed.
After the meal, I felt extremely full and uncomfortable. I also felt a bit sluggish and thirsty because the food was quite oily and salty. Later that night, I regretted overeating because I had difficulty sleeping and felt heavy the next morning as well. It reminded me that eating too much junk food can affect both comfort and health.
I think I ate so much on that occasion mainly because of the festive atmosphere and the temptation of having many delicious options in front of me. Sometimes, when people are celebrating with friends, they focus more on enjoyment than self-control. Although I enjoyed the experience, it taught me the importance of eating in moderation, even during special events.

IELTS Speaking Part 3
Q1. Why has unhealthy food become so popular nowadays?
A. Unhealthy food has become increasingly popular because it is convenient, inexpensive, and easily accessible. Many people lead busy lives and prefer meals that are quick to buy or prepare. In addition, fast food companies use strong marketing strategies and offer products that are highly appealing in taste, which attracts a large number of consumers.
Q2. What are the disadvantages of eating unhealthy food regularly?
A. Eating unhealthy food on a regular basis can lead to serious health issues such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and low energy levels. It may also weaken the immune system over time. Furthermore, poor eating habits can affect concentration and productivity, especially among students and working professionals.
Q3. Do you think advertisements encourage people to eat junk food?
A. Yes, advertisements play a major role in influencing people’s food choices. Companies often use attractive visuals, celebrity endorsements, and promotional offers to make junk food appear desirable. Children and teenagers are particularly vulnerable to such marketing strategies.
Q4. Should schools ban unhealthy food in cafeterias? Why or why not?
A. I believe schools should limit or ban unhealthy food in cafeterias because schools are responsible for promoting healthy habits. If students are given access to nutritious meals instead of sugary snacks and fried food, they are more likely to develop better eating patterns from a young age.
Q5. How can governments encourage people to eat healthier food?
A. Governments can encourage healthy eating by launching awareness campaigns, improving nutrition education, and supporting the availability of fresh food at affordable prices. They could also impose higher taxes on sugary drinks and heavily processed foods to reduce consumption.
Q6. Do you think young people eat more unhealthy food than older people? Why?
A. Yes, I think young people tend to eat more unhealthy food because they are more attracted to fast food culture, convenience, and social trends. Many young people also have busy schedules and may choose quick meals instead of cooking. Older people are generally more health-conscious.
Q7. Is it difficult for busy people to maintain a healthy diet?
A. Yes, it can be challenging for busy people to maintain a healthy diet because preparing nutritious meals requires time and planning. After a long working day, many people choose takeaway food for convenience. However, with proper meal preparation and discipline, it is still possible to eat healthily.
