Ireland Immigration Visas: Everything You Need To Know 

Ireland issues many different visas that you can avail of in your Ireland immigration process. Navigating the long list of visas can be difficult and confusing. To make things simpler, we have compiled a list of all the visas you may need. In the process of Ireland immigration from India, these are all the visas that will be useful to you. 

 

1. Ireland Short Stay Business Visa (C Type) 

This visa allows you to travel to Ireland for a maximum of 90 days for work purposes. It allows you to attend meetings, work on and sign contracts, or do any other business or company-related activity for 14 days or less. This business visa allows you to tend to your work in Ireland for 2 business weeks or less. 

C type means short stay. All short-stay visas come under this category. You must fill out and submit the visa application online and pay the fee. Ireland's immigration policy dictates that you submit other documents, including your biometric data to avail of this visa. 

The Ireland immigration process requires you to submit the following documents for this visa:

• Application letter

• Invitation letter from the company/employer

• Accommodation plan

• Insurance plan 

• Passport 

• Passport size photographs

• Past visa refusals 

• Finance plan 

All these documents must be shared within 30 days of your application submission. If you fail to do so, your application will be rejected. 

2. Ireland Long Stay Employment Visa (D type) 

This visa is a work permit that allows you to live and work in Ireland. You can employ this visa if you have received an offer of employment from a company based out of Ireland. If you are being transferred from a foreign branch to a branch in Ireland, you will also have to apply for this visa there. This visa promotes skilled worker immigration to Ireland. 

A D-type visa refers to all long-stay visas. This visa allows you to stay in Ireland for 3 years. You will have to select the ‘employment’ option in the form while indicating the purpose behind availing Ireland immigration. 

Under Ireland immigration policy, there are three types of employment visas:

• General Employment Visa

• Scientific Researcher Visa

• Van Der Elst Visa (for non-EEA nationals residing in a European country) 

While living in Ireland with this visa, Ireland's immigration policy dictates that you cannot take up employment anywhere else than the company you were approved to work at. 

The Ireland immigration process requires you to submit the following documents for this visa:

• Current valid passport

• Copies of all previous passports 

• Two coloured passport-size photographs 

• Application letter

• Employment permit 

• Contract of employment 

• Letter from the employer in Ireland 

• Qualifications 

• Finance Details 

• Insurance Details 

• Previous visa rejections (if any)

As stated earlier, this visa is valid for 3 years, after which you will have to renew it, and revisit your Ireland immigration process as some documents might need to be submitted again.

3. Ireland Immigrant Investor Program

The Immigrant Investor Program allows non-EU/EEA citizens to live in Ireland if they invest long-term in the country’s companies or resources. The investment must be made in a project approved by the Government and its stakeholders. It bolsters skilled worker immigration to Ireland. 

The purpose of this visa was to attract businesses and investors to the country and promote Ireland immigration among them. It also fastracks the process of obtaining residency status for individuals who hold this visa. 

According to Ireland immigration policy, you are eligible for the Ireland Immigrant Investor Program based on the following conditions:

• You have a personal net worth of at least €2 million 

• You are willing to invest at least €1 million in Ireland 

• You have no criminal charges or criminal record

• You are willing to invest the minimum amount for at least 3 years 

This visa offers four pathways through which you can make your investment. Thus, there are four investment options for you to explore. They are listed below:

• Enterprise investment: You invest a minimum of €1 million in an Irish enterprise for at least 3 years

• Real estate investment trust: You invest a minimum of €2 million in an Irish REIT listed in the Irish stock exchange for at least 3 years

• Investment fund: You invest a minimum of €1 million in an Irish investment fund for at least 3 years

• Endowment: You donate a minimum of €500,000 in a philanthropic investment that is of public benefit to the country 

You must invest in these pathways through your funds. Using a loan of any sort to invest will lead to immediate rejection of your application, and your Ireland immigration process will go null and void.

4. Ireland Long Stay Join Family Visa (D type)

To move to Ireland and live with your family, you must fill out the Long Stay visa application, and select ‘Join Family’ as your reason for pursuing Ireland immigration. 

Under Ireland immigration policy, you are allowed to issue this visa if you are related to a citizen or resident of Ireland through the following means:

• You are a child (under 18) of a citizen or resident of Ireland

• You are a spouse of a citizen or resident of Ireland

• You are the parent of a citizen or resident of Ireland

• You have a De Facto relationship with a citizen or resident of Ireland

You must fill out the family reunification application as well. The family member who is a citizen or resident of Ireland sponsoring you must show proof of funds to demonstrate their ability to support you. This visa does not come under skilled worker immigration to Ireland.
