IELTS Speaking Part 1

Singing

Q. Do you often sing / Do you like to sing often?

A. Yes, I genuinely enjoy singing, even though I’m not professionally trained. I tend to sing when   I’m alone at home or listening to my favourite songs. It helps me unwind after a long day and instantly boosts my mood.

Q. When do you like to sing?

A. I usually sing in the evening when I have some free time and feel relaxed. I also enjoy singing in the shower or while driving, as it makes me feel more energetic and positive.

Q. How much time do you spend singing every day?

A. I don’t spend a significant amount of time on it, perhaps around fifteen to twenty minutes a day. Since it’s just a hobby, the time I spend singing largely depends on my mood and schedule.

Q. What kinds of music do you like to sing?

A. I prefer singing soft romantic songs and old Bollywood classics. I particularly enjoy songs by Arijit Singh and Lata Mangeshkar because their music has meaningful lyrics and soothing melodies. I feel these types of songs complement my voice better than fast-paced or high-energy tracks.

Q. Do you want to be a singer?

A. Not really. I see singing purely as a hobby rather than a potential career. Becoming a professional singer requires years of rigorous training, consistent practice, and strong dedication. For me, singing is simply a way to relax and express myself.

Sample Answer:

One person I studied with who became very successful is my school friend, Arjun. We studied together from primary school till the 10th grade, and he was always one of the brightest students in our class.

Arjun was passionate about technology from an early age. While most of us spent time playing games, he used to build small software projects and learn coding online. I still remember how he once helped me create a basic website for a school competition, and that’s when I realised how talented he was.

After school, he studied computer science at a reputable university and later started his own tech company. Today, his company develops mobile apps for businesses, and he’s doing incredibly well. His hard work, creativity, and problem-solving skills played a big role in his success.

Studying with Arjun was motivating because he was very disciplined and focused. He never wasted time and always encouraged others to do their best. I feel proud to have known him since childhood and often get inspired by his journey. Seeing how he turned his passion into a career reminds me that success truly comes from consistent effort and determination.

A. A successful person is someone who is content with their life, contributes positively to society, and achieves balance between work and personal happiness. It’s not just about fame or wealth.

A. In my country, success is often linked to financial stability, a good job, and family pride. However, more people now value creativity, independence, and emotional well-being as signs of success.

A. Sometimes, yes. Many people chase success so hard that they forget to enjoy life. Real success should include happiness; otherwise, it feels empty.
